Lowest Rates Hub Inc. (“Lowest Rates Hub,” “we,” “us”) takes your privacy seriously. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
We collect the smallest amount of information needed to give you a useful insurance quote. That includes:
- Quote inputs — postal code, age, sex assigned at birth (where carriers require it for pricing), smoking status, coverage amount, and similar underwriting basics.
- Contact details — name, email address, and phone number, only when you choose to share them with a licensed advisor or save a quote.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, and pages visited. We use this to keep the site working and to spot abuse.
- Cookies — see the cookies section below.
We do not collect your Social Insurance Number, your banking information, or your medical records. Carriers may collect those directly during the formal application stage — never through this site.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Generate and display insurance quotes from carrier rate tables.
- Connect you with a licensed Canadian advisor when you ask us to.
- Send you the quote summary and policy documents you requested.
- Improve the site — anonymous, aggregated patterns only. We do not use your individual data to train external AI systems.
- Send occasional marketing emails about coverage you may need. You can unsubscribe with one click in any email.
We rely on your consent (and our legitimate business need to deliver the service you asked for) as the legal basis for this use. We will not use your data for any other purpose without telling you first.
Cookies & tracking
Cookies are small text files that help the site remember you. We use a few categories:
- Strictly necessary — keep you logged in, hold your quote progress, prevent fraud. These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — anonymous traffic data so we know which pages help and which confuse. We use privacy-respecting analytics tools and aggregate the data.
- Advertising — only on landing pages we promote through paid channels. You can opt out via the cookie banner the first time you visit.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time, but parts of the quote tool may stop working without them.
Sharing your data
We share your information sparingly, and only with parties that have a legitimate role in delivering your quote or maintaining our service:
- Licensed advisors and carriers. When you request a callback, we share your contact details and quote inputs with the advisor or carrier you selected. They are bound by their own privacy obligations under PIPEDA and applicable provincial law.
- Service providers. Hosting, email delivery, analytics, fraud-screening, and customer-support tools. They process data on our instructions only and are contractually required to protect it.
- Legal obligations. Where we have to disclose information to comply with Canadian law, respond to a valid court order, or protect against fraud or harm.
We do not sell your personal information. We are a comparison platform, not a lead farm.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA and provincial privacy law, you can:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information (subject to legal exceptions).
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you think we've mishandled your data.

Data retention
We keep your information only as long as we need it to deliver the service or meet a legal obligation. Concretely:
- Quote requests without a contact form completion — deleted after 90 days.
- Quote requests with contact details — kept for the life of the customer relationship plus 7 years, to satisfy insurance record-keeping rules.
- Marketing email subscriptions — until you unsubscribe.
- Anonymous analytics — kept indefinitely, but with no link back to you personally.
Children
Our service is for Canadian residents 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information through our site, email us and we'll delete it promptly.
International transfers
Lowest Rates Hub operates from Canada. Some of our service providers (for example, hosting and email delivery vendors) operate outside Canada, including in the United States. When data leaves Canada, we use contractual safeguards required by PIPEDA to make sure it is protected to a comparable standard. By using our services, you acknowledge that information may be processed and stored in those jurisdictions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — usually because we've added a new feature or a regulator has issued new guidance. When we do, we'll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we'll email anyone who has an active account or open quote.
